Dear Barbara Taylor Bradford,

I was wondering what your process for writing books is. How do you shape it, start it and finish it? Also, do you write your books on computer, or longhand?

Jenifer Nelissen, FL. USA

Thanks for your question. My writing process is fairly simple. Once I have an idea, I think out the entire story, playing great attention to the leading character. Once I have a broad sweep of the story, I start writing. I work hand in hand on an IBM Lexmark typewriter. I do all editing before sending pages to an agency who put the manuscript on disk.

Dear Barbara Taylor Bradford,

I loved your recent book on Katie Byrne, but I had a question about it. In chapter 30 Katie asks Xenia the truth about everybody at Burton Leyburn Hall and Xenia replies "One day I'll tell you everything". What did she mean by it and why wasn't it explained later on?

There are quite a lot of secrets about some of the characters who live at Burton Leyburn Hall. However, since the book was not about them, but about Katie, I could not go into their pasts. But perhaps one day I will - with a sequel. That's another reason why I didn't want to divulge anything.

Dear Barbara Taylor Bradford,

In Three Weeks in Paris, what color are Anya's eyes? In the hardcover on page 134 they are "a lovely blue". On page 135 they are a light-green.

Like other authors I often wonder how these "Gremlins' as we call them get into books. Anya's eyes are blue and always were!

Dear Barbara,

I was wondering how come the miniseries or movies adaptations of your novels aren't all on videos. I sure would love to own them all!

Thank you,
M. Boucher

Many of them are on video, such as A Woman of Substance, Hold the Dream and Remember. These are in the US. Acorn Media will be releasing To Be the Best in April. All of them can be ordered from my web site by clicking on the online store icons on the Movie page.

All of the film adaptations of my books are available in England, released from Odyssey Video, 15 Dufours Place, London W1V 1FE, Phone: 207-437-8251 Or 207-734-6941. But the English PAL tapes are not compatible with VHS video players.

With very best wishes to you all,

Barbara Taylor Bradford
