I also bought the DVD trilogy of the Emma Harte series after having read all three books. It was interesting to compare the book with the movie version.
I do commend the casting and acting of "A Woman of Substance" especially of Jenny Seagrove and Deborah Kerr. The plot closely resembled the book.
I also liked "Hold the Dream" and was pleased to see Jenny Seagrove cast again although as a different character. However, I found it strange that the movie was set in the 1980s which was chronologically incorrect and inconsistent with the book. Also strange was the fact that it was David Amory who kicked Jonathan and Sarah out of the family again inconsistent with the book....
Now, the movie version of "To be The Best" was a real disappointment to say the least. No disrespect but casting Lindsay Wagner as Paula was a mistake, although the rest of the casting was fine. The plot itself was VERY different from the book. What's this armed robbery they had at the Harte's stores? And Sandy being a gambler? Maddy having a past? Then Paula hitting it off with the security guy and husband Shane as insecure, demanding and unsupportive - what's that all about???? While the book version was as usual well written and a good read, the movie was a joke - a melange of daytime soap and cheap action flick. What happened?????
Let us pray that the hopefully upcoming movie version of Emma's Secrets would not disappoint ....
