News From The London Book Fair

Barbara was recently in London to participate in the 2006 London Book Fair. In addition to being honored at several events, Barbara was also on hand to promote her forthcoming Ravenscar series - the first of which will be coming out in the UK later this year (The Ravenscar Dynasty). Furthermore, Barbara celebrated the UK release of her 21st bestseller, Just Rewards, in paperback. And on the same day, her new biography, The Woman of Substance, by Piers Dudgeon was also released in paperback by HarperCollins. Both the Just Rewards paperback and The Woman of Substance biography will be available in North America this coming October from St. Martin's Press.

In its first week in paperback (in North America), Emma's Secret has hit the # 5 position on the New York Times Bestseller List according to the Sunday, November 7th edition. Costco retail stores places Emma's Secret at # 2 after one week of sales. Thank you to all the readers who have made this Barbara's 19th consecutive paperback bestseller in America.

Barbara Taylor Bradford's 20th novel, Unexpected Blessings, will debut at # 8 in next week's best-seller list (July 11th) published by the Sunday Times of London. The calculations are based on sales from the book's first four days of release. Unexpected Blessings is the fifth book in the series that began in 1979 with A Woman of Substance, and a sequel to last year's bestselling Emma's Secret. Incredibly, this is Mrs. Bradford's 20th consecutive novel to hit the top-ten on the bestseller list.

More than 10 weeks after its publication, Barbara's 20th novel, Unexpected Blessings, remains on the London Times bestseller list. The sequel to Emma's Secret hit the # 4 position in just it's second week of release. And it has remained near the top of the list all summer long. Barbara thanks all her readers in England for picking up this latest enstallment in the Harte family saga.

Barbara's 19th novel, Emma's Secret debuted in mid-July on the UK Bestseller list at # 4. It has now reached the # 3 position in its third week on the list. Emma's Secret is the 4th in the continuing saga of the Harte family dynasty, which includes the discovery of Emma Harte's diaries. The book will be published in the US by St. Martins Press in January of 2004.

For fans of Emma Harte, Blackie O'Neil and the rest of the characters from the Harte family saga, the waiting is over...at least in some parts of the world. On July 7th, Harper Collins (UK) released the greatly anticipated Emma's Secret in hard cover for fans in the UK, Australia and English Speaking nations outside of North America. Barbara celebrated the world premiere of her new release on the Isle of Man, where the book cover was featured on an official postage stamp. Emma's Secret marks the fourth overall book in the Harte family saga, following worldwide bestsellers A Woman of Substance, Hold the Dream & To Be The Best. It is the first in this series to be released in nearly 20 years and is highlighted by the missing years in the life of Emma Harte. For fans in the US and Canada, a different version of Emma's Secret will be published in January of 2004 by St. Martins Press.

We have just learned that the US paperback edition of Three Weeks In Paris will debut at #7 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Already a worldwide bestseller in Hardback, Three Weeks In Paris furthers Barbara's remarkable string of eighteen consecutive novels to make the top ten best-selling books in both hardcover and paperback editions. Each and every one of Barbara's novels, beginning with A Woman Of Substance in 1979 have appeared on the bestseller lists for the New York Times, Publisher's Weekly and the London Sunday Times. Plans are already underway for a re-print of the new paperback, as it has been reportedly sold-out in a handful of major stores. August 4, 2003 (London)- The Supreme Court of India today dealt a blow to the entire literary profession when it rejected the appeal by bestselling novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford in her fight against plagiarism. Despite a videotaped admission of guilt by the director of the series and evidence pointing to hundreds of similarities between the TV series and Bradford's bestselling novel, India's highest court refused to overturn a judgement made last month by an Indian Appeals Court.

Perhaps the most compelling and popular character created by Barbara through the years is Emma Harte from A Woman of Substance. Barbara is now in the process of exploring the life of Emma in a new light with an upcoming novel entitled The Secret of Emma Harte. Barbara has been hard at work on the development of this book which will undoubtedly answer many of the questions about the development of this legendary character and her history. Barbara recently sat down with Joy Philbin for a cable TV program on HGTV entitled At Home With. The 60 minute program, which includes a tour of the Bradford's home, has aired on HGTV and may have future air dates. Check your local listings for a schedule. Barbara has also been featured in a one-hour documentary on Lifetime television. This biographical program repeats periodically on Lifetime and is worth catching if you haven't already seen it.
